    Which Book??

There are so many resources out there. Guided Reading can be done at the primary and the intermediate level. It just looks a little different at different grades. You are in a unique position becuase you will possibly be able to have flexible groups between the 2nd and 3rd graders depending upon your school's expectations. Fountas and Pinell have two books out there, one for the primary and one for the higher grades. Does your school have a teacher resource library to check out books? This is where I checked this book out.

Have you ever heard of Lucy Calkins? She has written two great books: The Art of Teaching Reading and then The Art of Teaching Writing. It is based on the set up of a workshop style classroom. I have both of these books and they are fantastic. I would suggest whatever book you purchase try buying it from somewhere like Barnes and Noble. They will give you 20% off, for being a teacher. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions.
