Parent volunteers can be a Godsend when you have a student(s) struggling with reading or math. I have had parents work one-on-one with kids to improve sight words, fluency, comprehension, math facts, reviewing math concepts, etc. The kids really love to go to work with someone different. I have also used parent volunteers to cover the books in my classroom library with clear contact paper so they'll last longer or organize the books which get cluttered sometimes. I have even had them type student stories for publishing.
