Fits the crime

You're right about saying there are so many things that kids can do. The consequence should fit. A good book to read over the summer woudl be Teaching with Love and Logic by Fay and Funk. It's great. It states that kids do not need to know the consequence ahead of time because they are such great loophole artists that they will break the rule in a different way than you had posted just so they don't receive that consequence. What grade are you teaching?
