mystery manners - rules By KellyAnne

I played a game called mystery manners with my kids. I had a bulliten board with a poem in the centre and a race track on either side. We brainstormed polite behaviors or rules that they thought I would expect to see regularly| each day. These were written on individual index cards and put into a fishbowl that I decorated with happy faces. Each morning the special helper would pull a manner/rule. Nobody got to read it but me. At the end of the day if they were caught following the manner then they got a space on their gameboard. If not I got the point. I usually had them thank the person or people |
| caught doing good to reinforce the appropriate behaviour when seen. I actually gave points three times a day because I was teaching a K-1 split and they needed the more regular reinforcement. So we did it right before recess, lunch and dismissal. If they were not ready before the bell rang then I automatically got the points. The peom was something like this: Mystery manners is a game we play Because good manners are here to stay Will you earn your points today or will I steal them all away. Mrs. Denton like it neat and manners can't be beat So be polite and follow the rules or my victory might make you drool!
