Clip to ScrapBook
I also love The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe! We did that together. I couldn't find a good novel play to do, so we did tall tales as shorter plays. The kids loved that! I had a little "take one" movie starter that
I used when they were starting to act it out. It was easy for everyone to get a part using tall tales. Then they wrote their own tall tale! For biographies, they read their own - I let them pick anyone to read about, but nobody could pick the same person, so it was whomever turned in the name first. Then they had to present their person by dressing up like them, bringing items that
represented that person, having a journal entry that told a "day in the life" of that person, time line,.... things like that. They had fun with it! I did Dr. Seuss (Theodore Guiessel) as an example for them and I even wore the big cat in the hat stovepipe hat, for them to see what I meant.

As far as other read alouds, I did: The Kid in the Red Jacket, Hatchet, Chicken Soup for the Preteen Soul, and The Best School Year Ever. For class units, I did: Brian's Winter, Where the Red Fern Grows, Holes, The Cay, and The Hidden.

I love doing novels with the kids! That's my favorite part of the day!
