If I'm to understand correctly, your student is starting 4 year old preschool? You mentioned she has a year until she starts indergarten.....
I'd say, based on years of training and experience, that your student is doing just fine. Kids learn at different paces and in different ways. It sounds like she knows lots of the basics. And has more to learn. Check out the developmental guidelines for a quick review of what's developmentally appropriate. I do this often! It's easy to forget when so many parents are pushing us to push the kids further ahead than where they need to be. And forgetting that they need to play and learn social skill!!!
