Get the most of it By Jennifer
|
| The first few weeks are usually just observation. I kept a notebook and noted ways of classrom mangment and daily activites that took place. I would sometimes walk around the room to see what the kids were doing, or answer questions that some of the students may have (when the teacher was sometimes bumbarded with questions). I agree that maybe you can talk to the teacher about doing a small activity with thim, like reading or handwriting, just so you can start developing a raport with the students. Anytime I saw a student not paying attention or not doing what they were supposed to be doing, I would re-direct their behavior. I know you might feel weird doing this at first, but when I did this the teacher really likes my willingness to just jump in. Enjoy your experience and get everything you can out of it. It goes by really fast, so hold on.... GOOD LUCK
