    Hi. I am interested in getting the discussion going as well. I teach a 4/5 combination class. I implemented many of the WM strategies last year, but I brought the WM book home for the summer intending to reread and rethink things. My teaching is truly a work in progress, even after 12 years. I am especially interested in discussing how this model can work effectively in intermediate grades. I would love to hear from other intermediate teachers during this discussion!

    As for my district (at least at the intermediate level), they support teachers using a variety of strategies to improve reading, but I definitely encounter those "old school" teachers that think phonics is the end all be all. I believe in a more balanced approach. All students learn differently after all!
