When I'm working with students and can't be disturbed, I hang up a "door hanger" that came with a book order one time. It has insects all over and says "Don't Bug Me!" (Not that I'd EVER say that to my 4th graders, but we make a joke out of it, and it gets the point across.) I just say I'm putting up the Don't Bug Me sign so you know that you need to find a way to work without me until the sign comes down.
