Job Wheel By Lynn

I made a wheel that was fastened to a larger wheel by a brass paper fastener. The wheel itself was divided into 24 equal sections. In each section I put a child's name. Any left over spaces I kept blank. After fastening the wheel to the larger wheel, I write on the larger wheel a job for each section. The smaller wheel was then rotated clockwise once every Monday. By reading the wheel the children could figure out when their job would be or in how many weeks they would have the job theyr eally wanted. And updating and reading off the new jobs each Monday took a less then a minute. Some jobs I had were: 1 | | Office Messenger, 1 Flag Salute person goes to the front of the room to say the pledge, 1 Line leader, 2 door holders, 2 Lunch Luggers to bring down and get the lunches from the lunchroom, 3 classroom inspectors make sure the classroom desks were neat, chairs were up, and library was in order at the end of the day, 1 Botanist watered the plants, 2 Board Washers, 1 Caboose for the end of the line to shut the lights, 1 Paper Passer, and 1 Mail Sorter to place returned papers and homework in each child's mailbox. All left over spots were the Substitutes. These worked for me. I think I will use same method next year, maybe change it a little as far as the jobs listed. (perhaps have AM and PM lunch luggers and office messengers) Of course I'll be on this website reading for any other good ideas!!
