1-2 Pros and Cons
By Shelly

Clip to ScrapBook
I taught a 1-2 multi for 3 years and loved it. Yes, there is the added diversity of age, however, you will quickly find that the skills and needs are not as widely spread as one would think. If you are willing to mix them up on need and not grade then you will have a great year.

PROS: older students are natural leaders, kids really don't "know" the difference, teaching to the student is easier then teaching to the middle or high, standards for science/soc stud can be mixed

CONS: parents need educated of the benefits, class tends to be the odd man out in scheduling, 1-2 created out of number needs, not kids needs.(that is a hard one to overcome but do-able.

Good luck and enjoy!
Shelly
