Love 2nd grade

You will love teaching 2nd grade! I don't think there is a better grade to teach. 2nd graders still love to sing. I sing with the calendar as well as English. You can use tunes from familiar songs and just changes the
words.
Also, my class loves for me to read aloud to them. A great book to start at the beginning of the year is the first book in the boxcar series, "The Boxcar Children". The students love the mystery factor as well as there are 50 plus books that they can read as well. The first book gives the background and sets the setting for all the books that follow. A book that I love to

read at the end of the year is "Sideways Stories from Wayside School". It's a great story about a class that is on the 30th story. Each chapter is about one student in that class. Great humorous story. There are 3 books in that series as well.
