Letters
By BeaJay

Clip to ScrapBook
I also bought the foam letters [stickers] last year. I bought a tackle box with 24 divisions and put the letters in each division. Obviously a couple of the compartments had 2. This is where I store my magnetic letters
that I bought at the Dollar Tree. The kids just go and get the box and use them to make vocabulary words on individual chart boards; make spelling words; use ideas from Patricia Cunningham's Making Big Words book; also use them to play a Spell-off game where the class is divided into 3 teams, each team has a box of letters, and I call out words to spell, group that gets the word first
gets a point, usually play until a team gets x number of points; favorite that kids like [from Cunninghma] I put letters to a mystery word on the board in alphabetical order, they have to find as many words as they can as well as determine the mystery word. Hope this gives you some ideas. I teach 3rd grade.
