Expectations
By Jean M.

Clip to ScrapBook
My kindergarten follows a challenging curriculum so I like for my children to have certain skills and knowledge acquired before they enter. I ask parents to teach them to recognize numbers 1-10, to count to 20, to say the
alphabet, and to recognize many of the letters. I expect them to know their whole name and their parents first and last names. I want them to know their town and state and their phone number. I ask parents to practice opening food and drink containers with them. Practice with putting away school supplies is also helpful. Our children wear uniforms and need to know how to tuck in
their shirts and to fasten and unfasten slacks and belts. I like for parents to work with their child on these things over the summer and then if the child is not ready for our program the parent has some indication of it in the difficulty they have teaching their child these things.
