I taught 4th grade for 14 years and loved it! We are moving out of state and I will now be teaching 3rd.

Secretly choose a person or object. The students ask Yes or No questions of you to guess what/who you chose. You can also play it with 4-5 digit numbers. They ask question to guess your secret number.

My students loved hink /pinks/hinky-pinkys. Annie's rhyme time website has them. Riddles who's answers are two rhyming words.

LINKS - Draw 10 or so large circles on the board that are next to each other(like a book worm). Put a review word in the 1st. circle. A student comes up and puts a word in circle #2 that has to do with #1. It gets interesting when the last word has to have something to do with the previous circle AND the first circle too.

Pass the Chicken is fun. I used a roll of unopened paper towels or an old stuffed animal as my "chicken". The object is to pass the chicken to each class member before the chosen person has completed his "task". Tasks can be things like:name 5 states and their capitals, list 5 shiny things, 5 breeds of dogs, 5 adjectives that answer the question how many, etc. The chose student has to do his task before the chicken gets to each class member. As you can imagine this gets hectic!

    Enjoy fourth grade.........I did!
