"leaving middle school"
By Robin

Clip to ScrapBook
Suzie, congratulations on making what had to be a difficult life decision. How fortunate that you were able to realize you were getting burned out, and can now make the time to achieve other personal goals in your life,
like spending time with your child and working on your home. It sounds to me like the others are wishing that they were in the position to do what you did, and are unfairly resenting you for it. I would make a point of going out with your best friend out of that pack, and share your feelings about being left out. You can assure them that things needn't change in your friendship, and that
you would always be interested in hearing about their school lives. I have found that it does take extra work to maintain friendships once you leave a particular workplace. One of my best friends from my current teaching job is leaving to take an assistant principalship in a neighboring county, and I know we will be working the e-mail pretty hard! Good luck in restoring your friendship with these people.
