sharpening

I agree with the above posters, except I don't let my students use my electric sharpener. They have been broken too many times by overeager students. Instead, I sharpen pencils in the morning or if one breaks and there is no replacement. I only let students who have their own sharpeners do it in the morning before they begin their journal writing. They have to sharpen at least two in case one is lost or breaks.
