star of the day By RZ

Hi,This isn't really a behaviour management thing, but more of an incentive. I thought I would share it with you though because it has worked wonders for me. (I am student teaching with 4 more weeks to go.) I have a | sparkly hat which the star of the day gets to wear. I make a big thing out of it in the morning, to get the students really excited about it. They get to wear the hat, have a clap from the students and stick their photo on a chart on the wall i made (a bit like a grid with the days of the week at the top.) They then become my helper for the day, and can choose someone to help them when more | | than one is needed. Also, every day someone gets to take the football to recess and lunch, so I make it this person at recess and they can choose someone at lunch to have it. I made it star of the day so everyone can have a go before my student teacher is over, but you could also extend it to star of the week or whatever. I don't know what your theme would be, but I guess you could adapt it to that as well? I bought the hat from Big W for about $2 but Im from Australia so Im not sure where you would get one from? I think maybe your walmart is like our big w?Anyway, the students absolutely love this, and their behaviour is just mgic, since they all want to be star of the day. I hope this helps! (Oh, and at recess and lunch they leave their hat in the clasroom so it doesnt get wrecked).
