Each student/group of students is assigned one of the regions (see http://www.iloveny.com/ for the regions). Students can write to the County Chamber of Commerces in the regions and get some great info or do a web quest using the the New York State and I love NY websites. Also the NYSED website has great resources on New York State. Assign them to find out geopgraphy, the attractions, the specialty food, historical event/place, etc. Have them create a display for their "booth" with a quiz board about the info than can be found in their booth about the region, a carnival game that highlights their region, and a food from their region. Provide a rubric for each of the assignments Invite other classes and parent to visit the fair.
