Have them create little booklets for the next year's 3rd graders. You can have them typed up already, then they just complete the answers in complete sentences, drawing pictures to go along with it, etc... You can title
it "3rd grade survival guide". Remind them that you will proofread each one, so they don't try to put inappropriate things in there. Questions include:
What was your favorite thing about 3rd grade? Hardest thing? What's the best way to get along with the teacher? If you could do it over again, what would you do differently?

I had mine write on regular paper first, to be proofread

by peers or myself before transferring it to the booklet.

Another thing I did was divide the class into groups and we played quiz bowl with a bunch of questions they should've learned throughout the year. They lost points if they talked, so everyone was very cooperative! They begged to play that the last week of school - daily!
