basal
By Susan

Clip to ScrapBook
I went through the same thing you did - with following it one year and working on it the next summer! I looked at what I needed to cover in science in social studies (mostly social studies, because that was more chronological) and pulled the stories from the basal that went along with it. Every month I knew what I was going to cover in each area, and I had a box that had picture books that went along with any of it, worksheets that covered skills, etc... I jumped around in the actual workbook for language arts, but that wasn't a big deal - I just told them what page and we turned to it. They didn't seem to mind that it was out of order. I covered everything I was supposed to, and still had time for reteaching areas that weren't understood as well.
