I hear you.... By Annie

When I read your post I thought you were in Illinois. We have the exact same story here. I had my own classroom the first year out of school, but was laid off. Word is the district is hiring new graduates each year and| then laying them off so they don't have to tenure anyone. This past year I subbed and may have to again this next year. There are other districts hiring and I've come close to a job a few times, but around here each principal has told me they are getting about 150-200 applicants for each opening. It's been a privilige just to get the interview! There have been a ton of openings around |
| the outlying Chicago area. Unfortunately, I'm unable to move too far north because of family. The other booming areas are Vegas, Florida, and Houston used to be a hot market as well. Hang in there! I've had most of my interview opportunities because of subbing and getting to know the principals.
