EBD classroom
By Kristie

Clip to ScrapBook
I currently teach a 6th grade self-contained classroom with some LD, EMH, and ED/BD kids. The ED/BD kids can really be a challenge but rewarding also. Right now, I am trying to get one of my students moved to an alternative
placement. He has violent temper tantrums in which he will bang his head repeatedly on the desk or wall, throw desks, rub the skin off of his arms with erasers until he bleeds, pick scabs and his skin until he bleeds. When I was student teaching, I had a 2nd grader who would throw his glasses across the room, throw his shoes, and flail on the ground. These are some of the extremes
but I find that there is at least one minor incident every day in a class of 14 kids. It can be frustrating especially when the children need more specialized help than what you can give them. Supportive administrators really make a difference too. Hope this helps.
