paperwork
By pattti

Clip to ScrapBook
I've reduced paperwork by keeping track of homework with a "chin check". The kids hold it under their chins and I record check marks for students who don't have it completed. We then review it in a variety of ways - partner discussion, oral review, random students are called on to share, switch papers to provide feedback, etc. When finished, students put a star on it and put it in their take-home folder. I do this with all my systematic, practice homework (usually math and spelling). I try to get the message across to parents that missing nightly has a greater impact the next day when we review it as part of the lesson. Students who don't complete it then lose that review. The reduction in paperwork has been a big help to me.
