More time with your kids

We had a first year teacher a few years ago that said she got into teaching because she wanted to spend more time with her kids. She hit the door running everyday at 3:30. She didn't even last through the first semester. She soon realized that she could not be an effective teacher working those hours and did not wish to work any more than that. She decided to quit and stay home with her kids. I don't think you realize all the time that goes into teaching. It is not a job that you leave, go home and do not think about until you go in the next day. I usually arrive at school at 7:15, rarely leave before 4:30 or 5:00. I usually do a couple of hours grading/lesson planning at night and grade/lesson planning all day Sunday.
