I had a similar situation when a parent complained about me to another teacher she ran into at the grocery store. The next time I saw the parent, I smiled very sweetly and said, "Oh, I heard you ran into Mrs. R at Foodtown." She looked very surprised and nervous, and I never had a problem with her again.
