I'm not sure what grade you teach, but the Dragon Slayer's Academy series are great lower level- high interest books. They are fantasy, but set in the medieval times. I recently had some students who normally don't like to read in a book club with the first book in this series. They not only loved it, but they ALL continued on with the series.
