We the above and also have a partner reading rubric with cute graphics.

Monkey: I read with expression.

Swan: I read smoothly (not word by word or choppy)

Elephant: I remembered most of the words (didn't stumble)

Cheetah: I read quickly.

We use the rubric with partners practicing the piece/poem/story several times. Partners also use the rubric twice...
