I always liked the book Sixth Grade Secrets by Lois Sachar, I read it to my summer kids last year and they BEGGED me to read it more everyday. Also the Joey Pigza books by Jack Gantos are awesome, learning how to handle his quite dysfunctional family while coping with ADHD. I read those to my kids this past summer and they thought they were hilarious.
