books for above avg 6th grade readers

I love Lois Lowry, and have read two of her books to my sixth grade class - The Giver , and Gathering Blue (both with lots of discussion and follow-up activities). As much as I love Number the Stars, if your readers are above avg for the 6th grade, then I don't think the text would be challengin enough for them. I haven't read Silent Boy yet either, but I can't wait. Good luck!Mary
