I do something every other Friday called Reading Cafe. I have a parent donate a snack and drink and then the kids read their independent reading books while enjoying a treat. It is amazing how focused they are for 45 minutes when they have food in front of them. I also invite parents in to read and I sit and read my book too. It is relaxing, enjoyable and a great way to end the week.
