I always send home a thank you note to my students who give me a gift. I simply find some nice blank notecard and write a short note that mentions the gift and my appreciation. Since I teach primary, I try to make it very short and simple. I agree with you; I think we should send the students thank yous as a way of impressing upon them the importance of acknowledging the gift and the giver. Man, I sound like my mom!
