Stealing

I had a theft in 3rd grade of one of the student's electronic dictionary. Nobody would confess...I had my suspicions but couldn't accuse. Thinking that because the suspect was never caught and wishing to avoid future thefts, I did something completely unethical! I lied to the kids! I told them there was a video camera installed in the classroom that taped all activity going on in the room all day. They bought it big time and there was no further stealing of anyone's belongings!
