    I agree, don't look at changing seating as punishment, but as adaptation for their particular learning style. I move students around quite regularly, to give them opportunities to work with others, to help them work better, or to separate them from distractions. The seating plan is very fluid right from day 1. Since I have more desks in my room than students, the child who has so much difficulty working well with others has an empty desk beside and behind them. Works best for all involved.
