I don't know my Bible stories very well, but I think this happens at the wedding when Jesus performs his first miracle, turning the water into wine. Someone comments that he is (just) Joseph the carpenter's son, someone they (the guests) all know. I believe Nazareth was a small community, but if there was any confusion, people would identify the father and/or the profession of the person.

I'm impressed by your group. They ask good questions, and they deserve good answers. Keep up the good work.
