Maybe you could create stations talking about different things from each set of colonies. One day focus on one set and each station can refer to different facts that you want to teach about the colonies. The next day, do another set, and the day after, do the last set. Then you could have them pick a colony to a report on. They could also do it on Williamsburg, Jamestown, etc. too. they could do a report or make a travel brochure or a poster. Hope this helps.
