long term sub

Julia: I was a long term sub in 3rd grade. My principal sent a note home to the families letting them know that the teacher would be out indefinitely due to surgery. I also sent home a note introducing myself and encouraging communication. In general, I would say the families weren't too involved with me unless there was a problem with their child adjusting to the different routine. Lots of good luck! The students will love you and it's a great opportunity for a permanent placement for the future.
