I couldn't have said it better myself. I, too, am weary of the "little" things about the students: the disrespect,mostly, but the other things you mentioned, too. I especially HATE the test stuff: getting kids ready for the test, hyping the test some more, using materials that make students better TEST takers. The question: Are we ready for the test yet? Taking benchmark tests and computer tests to prove that we are competent and doing our jobs . . . ad nauseum. Yuck! That's the #1 thing I won't miss about teaching.
