I am certain the teacher would prefer that you wait. What I have done is cut a circle out of a paper and put the paper with the hole on the overhead and then use the circle I cut out to show the phases after the moon and flashlight bit. We talk about this because of ground hog day and bring flashlights. One thing we try is to draw a picture of themselves on a sunny day with the shadow behind them. Make sure sun is on the opposite side. We make lots of shadows.
