Morning Message

One thing that I do during calendar time is called "Morning Message" I write a few sentences on the board, leaving out all the vowels ex., G _ _ d M _ rn _ ng! (Good Morning) etc. One by one we place each vowel in, then we read it together. THere are so many learning opportunities here. It gives us a chance to talk about vowels, punctuation, letter sounds, tricky words and what is going on in the day. The children love it and I always have to cover it up because they want to 'decode' it before its time.
