desk top toy calming
By ck

Clip to ScrapBook
Are you familiar with those desk top "toys" made of clear plastic that you flip over & the liquid inside seperstes and s-l-o-w-l-y drips down, usually past wheels or levers & things? I have one of these on my desk & had used it as a time-out timer. It seemed to provide some sort of calming effect. Some of the students even started to ask if they could "play" with it at free time. Now, when a child seems to be starting to get agitated, I offer it to them for one or two "flips" and it seems to help them refocus & calm down.
