Teaching will get easier the longer you teach. I am suppose to follow the Mathland way to teach multiplication but I find it more beneficial for my students to go with the Marilyn Burns model. I also use parts of the TERC program. We just started multiplying this week and the kids are starting to get it. I introduce division at the same time because they are related and showing the students the fact families of x2 along with manipulatives to act each one out, helps. The Marilyn Burns game Circles and stars is a great way to get the concept understood initially.
