tardies

My district started something new this year. In the past after three tardies the child received morning detention, and every tardy after three got them another morning detention. This year grades k-2 do not get detention. After three tardies they are reported to the social worker and she calls their house. One of my boys gets called on the regular! The social worker investigates who is in need of transportation, extra help, etc. Upper grade students still get detention. I guess the view was that little kids really had no control over the situation, but as they get older, they do have some.
