Congratulations on your baby. Kids are so fun!! I'm sorry your husband has to go to Iraq. I think that finding teaching positions can be difficult in certain areas. I have never found a location that actually has a teacher shortage. However, I do know that North Carolina will hire NY teachers with phone calls. But just reading all the posts here, there are many people who want jobs and can't find them. I know it will be difficult for you without any family near. What about a leave of absense? Will your district give you one of those? You should look into it.
