Just what I do....
By Julie

Clip to ScrapBook
In my classroom, I teach the children that the 'e' jumps up and bumps the vowel on the head, making it say it's own name.

To demonstrate, I go around, and when I touch a child on the head, they say their name. After a few, I say "if I touched an 'a' on the head, what would it say?" And they respond with 'a!' I go through some other vowels, and then I show them some examples...and how the 'e' makes the vowel say it's own name.

This seems to help my class. I sure hope I made sense!

Julie
