cranking up the expectations
By Mandy

Clip to ScrapBook
Hello! I am also a teacher in Georgia, but I teach fourth. I think it is perfectly acceptable to make the work more challenging. I have seen that many students have a difficult time adjusting to fourth because the expectations. More homework, independant reading, reading for information in non-fiction texts, ect. Some of the textbooks used in fourth at my school are actually 4 and 5th grade books. I would write a note to parents letting them know that you will be increasing your academic expecations to prepare students for fourth. Hopefully this would get the students in gear and prepare the parents. Hope this helps!
