Project confidence. If a parent thinks you are unsure or insecure they may feel it is their duty to tell you how to run your classroom. You will definately have times in your first year when you are unsure and insecure. Find a mentor or copy an experienced teacher. Teaching young children shouldn't be a problem. If you teach an older group, be careful not to be their friends. Always let your students and parents see you as a professional. Never think of your youth as a disadvantage. You undoubtedly have lots of great ideas and boundless energy. Those are real advantages in our business.
