Taught year round

We recently went from year round (rotating schedules) to modified (2 weeks off in spring, 1 week off for Thanksgiving and in school til the end of June) As a teacher I like both of these schedules better than traditional.
If I were a parent of a HS student I'm not sure I would like year round (our HS have always been traditional). The long summer break is a great opportunity to get a summer job, travel, summer camp, take a class. I would have missed out if I wasn't able to do these things when I was in HS because I had to go back to school.
