What are some things you are learning about in school? That might help planning the field trip because then you can do something related to school. I don't teach science, the other fifth grade teacher I work with does, but when our classes study constellations in science, we go to a near by planetarium. We watch a star show showing all kinds of constellations. When we are done we go to a near by park and have a picnic (they do this unit at the end of the year, so it is spring). After the picnic, we play games outside like kickball, relay races, etc. It is a lot of fun.
