I have used many big books with my second graders. Unfortunately they are all at school and I am at home, but the one that I use over and over is the Magic School Bus Inside the Earth. ( I have several of the MAgic School Bus Big books..the kids love them all!) Its a great introduction to Earth Science and I find Non-fiction is a "hook" in second grade. It gets them wanting to read and learn more. Another favorite big book of every class I have ever taught is Stellaluna. It opens the door to a study of Bats! Then, we branch out to other mammals.Good luck and enjoy!
